We are now into our 3rd week of the ‘5 kilos in 8 weeks’ challenge. By now, this is what must have happened:
– Some are still on the journey, like myself – I have now lost another 2 kilos (6 more to go!)
– Some have decided to take a ‘break’ (and that’s okay too. Remember, we all have the option of starting today)
I thought this would be a good time to share a beautiful story of my friend, Adrian Owen, from New Zealand. He is an amazing person — a family man, an entrepreneur. He has shared his weight loss journey with us, so we can all gain some motivation from this, to continue on this journey. It’s never too late to start. Please remember that…
Adrian Owen’s weight loss journey.
Read how he transformed his life, and continues to do so…..
As a small business owner and a relatively new father of 2 (Maya 6, Ryder 5) I lost myself in trying to keep my business going through the recession and the steep learning curve of being a new Dad. All of my past personal goals went out the window and I ended up lost, and in the end losing me and who I am as a person.
I ended up over weight, lethargic and hated myself, no, disgusted with myself and hid away not wanting any contact with outside people.
This came when I fell asleep behind the wheel of our car with my family in it… Luckily my partner woke me before we crashed into a parked car.
Later that month we were at a birthday party, and we were taking photos of the day, and I saw one of me… and I didn’t know who it was initially as I was so over weight.
I went to the Doctors 11 Months ago to see how my health was and they could not weigh me! They had one scale for each foot and estimated my weight to be over 175kg…
Morbidly Obese was what my Doctor said, and gave me the hard word, that if I don’t lose the weight there was a significant chance I could die within 5 years!
Back to ME:
I needed to get me back on track, I had the qualifications and knowledge to do it, but one thing I realised through this journey is that ‘If you don’t really want it… you know, that deep desire that you feel burning inside of you, it tends not to manifest.’ I HAVE THAT DESIRE… RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!
Journey to date:
Lost 50 kg, feeling good, now need to SMASH off another 15kg!
Reason why I am doing this publicly:
I know that I am not the only one out there that has lost their way through this life journey, and if I can help motivate one person to get back to discovering themselves again, and learning to love them-self, AWESOME!
To my friends and family who have always stood by me and believe in me, thank you, I Aroha to you all. And to Laura… a HUGE Thank you for keeping things moving forward and waiting.
Let’s stop making excuses – and get off our asses.
Adrian did it.
I am doing it.
We all can.
